At the request of the Port of Beirut Management and Operating Committee, ESCWA is undertaking a study to revisit the 2018 master plan of the port, taking into consideration ground alterations induced by the tragic blast of 4 August. The study will propose guidelines for possible modifications of the master plan towards better port capacity, performance and competitivity.
On 17 September, ESCWA organized a consultative workshop with port authorities to discuss and validate the approach of the study, and its contents, sources of information and timeline.
Work was initiated on 1 September and will span over three months. The study will be developed through desk and field research, as well as consultations with all stakeholders.
