The ESCWA Climate/SDGs Debt Swap mechanism (Debt Swap/Donor Nexus Initiative) was launched to support member States in their struggle with climate finance, high debt burdens, and fiscal pressures that had been exacerbated by the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following the progress of work of the inter-agency taskforce established to develop the initiative in Tunisia, ESCWA organized on 24 and 25 July a meeting to discuss the various aspects of the debt swap programme in the country.
Participants discussed the identification of priorities for project selection and key performance indicators for developing the programme.
