Nibal Idlebi

Nibal Idlebi is the Leader of the Statistics, Information Society and Technology Cluster

She has occupied various positions at ESCWA over the course of 20 years, such as the head of the Innovation Policy Section and the director of the Information and Communication Technology Application Section. She has supervised regional initiatives related to advanced digital government, innovation policy for sustainable development, open government and open data, information society, digital Arabic content and cyber legislation for building knowledge society. She is an active member in several international and regional working groups, and a jury member of regional and international awards on innovation, entrepreneurship, digital content and e-Government.

 

Nibal Idlebi

Before joining ESCWA, Ms. Idlebi was Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Communications and Technology (MCT) in the Syrian Arab Republic. Prior to that, she was a college professor at the Higher Institute of Applied Science and Technology (HIAST) in Damascus. She also has experience in the private sector as a research engineer in France. 

Ms. Idlebi has an engineering degree from école supérieure d'électricité (Supélec) in France; a diplôme d'études approfondies (DEA) with specialization in operating systems and software engineering from école nationale supérieure d'informatique et de mathématiques appliquées de Grenoble (ENSIMAG); and a Ph.D in computer science from Nancy 1 University in France with a specialization in parallel processing and distributed systems.
