Building Urban Economic Resilience during and after COVID-19
The project aims at strengthening the capacities of governments to design, implement and monitor sustainable, resilient and inclusive COVID-19 economic and financial responses, recovery and rebuilding plans. Its immediate impact is to provide good global practices to 16 pilot cities, including Alexandria (Egypt), Beirut (Lebanon) and Kuwait (Kuwait), to develop and implement their immediate response and recovery plans to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will ultimately help them plan for more resilience to better withstand shocks such as the COVID-19 pandemic and urban systems’ stresses that are likely to reoccur in a predominantly urban world.
The implementation of the project considers linkages with other dimensions of urban resilience that are of specific relevance to the different social, spatial and governance contexts of each region.
