The “Training Workshop on costing the implementation of the National Strategy on Combatting Violence Against Women and Girls by 2030 in the Kingdom of Morocco comes within the framework of Morocco’s national efforts to promote women’s rights and protect women and girls from violence. Having developed a national strategy to combat violence against women and girls, the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Development, Equality and Family in Morocco has sought ESCWA’s technical support to develop a national plan to identify the cost of implementing the strategy.

The workshop has two main components:

  • A conceptual component which clarifies the guidelines and tools needed to develop a financial plan that will accompany the implementation of the “National Strategy to Combat Violence against Women and Girls by 2030 in the Kingdom of Morocco”
  • A participatory component involving all national stakeholders, which allows participants to use tangible information, data and monetary/financial values in order to implement the knowledge gained from the conceptual component

The workshop thus aims to provide participants with the needed fundamental knowledge of the budgeting mechanisms for national action plans and strategies, including:

  • the international landscape for financing national strategies on violence against women
  • the methodologies for costing national strategies for combating violence against women

Workshop participants include State officials representing the ministries and governmental bodies concerned with the implementation of the National Strategy, as well as some civil society representatives.
