The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Jordanian National Commission for Women, organized a national consultative workshop on the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action after 25 years. The two-day workshop, held on 26-27 February 2019 in Amman, brought together representatives of governmental institutions and non-governmental organizations to discuss the first draft of the national report and identify gaps in and sources of needed data and information. They also agreed on the next steps of the reporting process prior to the national review’s submission to ESCWA on the defined date.
This technical advisory service is part of ESCWA’s endeavor in supporting the Arab States in their Beijing +25 national review processes. ESCWA, in partnership with UN Women and the League of Arab States, will be consolidating the 22 national reports into a regional one. The regional report will be presented during the upcoming 64th Session of the Committee on the Status of Women in March 2020 in New York.
