Decision Makers and Experts Gather to Discuss Arab Perspective for Shaping Future of Internet

Under the theme "Arab Perspective for Shaping the Future of the Internet", and under the joint patronage of Lebanese Minister of Telecommunications Boutros Harb and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf the city of Beirut hosted on 26-27 November 2014 the Third Annual Meeting of the Arab Internet Governance Forum (AIGF-III) at the Movenpick Hotel. The Forum, which was held with the strategic partnership of the Lebanese Ministry of Telecommunications and Ogero Telecom, was preceded by a pre-event on 25 November 2014 for capacity building on Internet Governance. The three-day event brought together more than 500 policy and decision makers and experts in the area of Internet Governance from within and outside the Arab region including participants from various stakeholders, governments, business sector, civil society, technical community, academia, and intergovernmental organizations. The event led to a number of strategic messages to be published on the AIGF-III page, as well as the Chairman's report that summarises the main content and discussions of the meeting.
