Although 2/3 of freshwater resources in the water-scarce Arab region are shared, the lack of accurate data and limited agreements on shared water resources still hamper their good management.

On 8 June, ESCWA contributed to the “Evaluating Transboundary Water Arrangements Training Program”, held by the Water Diplomacy Center (WDC) at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in collaboration with the University of East Anglia.

ESCWA stressed the importance of science in informing policy in transboundary cooperation while presenting the Inventory of Shared Water Resources in Western Asia with a focus on the Jordan River Basin.
