To provide policymakers in Tunisia with the necessary tools for more accurate economic analysis and robust decision-making, ESCWA conducted a workshop from 14 to 17 May to train staff from the National Institute of Statistics on the production of the Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HCPI) and modernize its classifications.
The workshop offered a thorough examination of the intricacies of the HCPI and its computation methodology at the national level, emphasizing its critical role in enabling accurate and comparable cross-country price analyses.
The HCPI enables the spatial comparison of inflation levels between countries and the computation of a single inflation measure for the region or groups of countries, thus guiding policymakers by providing valuable indicators.
