UN-ESCWA organized a workshop on "Mainstreaming Gender Issues in the National Policies of Arab Gulf Countries" in Amman, Jordan, from 4 to 6 May. The training included 20 employees from the National Machineries for Women (NMW) and different ministries in Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Yemen.

The workshop concluded with recommendations on how to mainstream gender issues in the different sectors and in the plans and programmes of ministries in the Arab Gulf countries. The workshop was very well received by the participants who requested UN-ESCWA to provide further assistance to member countries in the area of gender equality and advancement of women.
