To optimize the accuracy and efficiency of price data collection and automating its process, ESCWA, in cooperation with the Planning and Statistics Authority in Qatar, organized a national training workshop on modernization and innovation in the field of price statistics.
Held from 4 to 8 February, the workshop highlighted the importance of embracing modern approaches for effective price data collection. Participants also gained a deep understanding of the Automatic Price Collection Tool (APCT) developed by ESCWA.
The APCT enables statistical offices to automatically collect widespread and customized data from websites, using web scraping and natural language processing.
