State of the Climate in Asia

On 26 October and ahead of COP26, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) launched the State of the Climate in Asia - 2020 report, a snapshot of climate trends, extreme weather, and associated risks and impacts in key sensitive sectors.
 
During the high-level virtual launch event, ESCWA Executive Secretary Rola Dashti highlighted the impact of climate change on vulnerable groups and coastal communities, and ways to overcome transboundary challenges. She stressed the urgent need to ensure that science drives climate policies.
 
A collaborative product of several United Nations agencies, the report highlights lessons from climate action in Asia and identifies pathways for addressing critical gaps and challenges.
