ESCWA and the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Egypt conducted from 20 to 23 February a series of consultative and technical meetings on applying the Social Protection Program Rapid Analysis Framework (SPP-RAF), where they discussed findings of a quantitative analysis of the Takaful and Karama social assistance programme data, as well as opportunities for future collaboration on social protection.
Participants discussed ways to extend the scope of collaboration by identifying potential needs for reform using the ESCWA newly developed Comprehensive National Social Protection Systems and Reforms Country Profile approach, which provides government officials in its member States with hands-on guidance on how to produce comprehensive national social protection and reforms country profiles.
The collaboration is expected to start in the second quarter of 2023, with a multi-stakeholder inception workshop in Cairo.
