ESCWA and the Center for Research and Social Studies (CRES) of the Ministry of Social Affairs of Tunisia, are launching the report “Social Protection Landscape and Perspectives: Comprehensive National Review of the System and Reforms of Tunisia”.
Developed by CRES with the support of the Development Pathways think tank and under ESCWA guidance, the report is a landmark review of Tunisia’s social protection system and related reforms. It highlights achievements and areas for potential reforms, and provides actionable recommendations that address, amongst others, disincentives for informal workers to join the social insurance system; the necessity to complement the existing comprehensive social insurance landscape with an unemployment insurance scheme while ensuring the financial sustainability of the national pension system.
