To launch this year’s regional review of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing, ESCWA held on 8 April a capacity-building workshop for Arab States’ focal points on ageing.
Participants reviewed the draft template prepared by ESCWA to guide member States in preparing national review reports and discussed preliminary ideas on, and preparations for, national reviews.
The review process will provide an opportunity for countries to better understand the situation of their elderly populations, identify priorities and challenges to empower and protect them, monitor progress in implementing the Plan, and exchange related experiences and expertise.
