ESCWA, in coordination with the Arab Center for the Study of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD), is organizing a national workshop aimed at training participants on assessing the impacts of climate change on groundwater resources. The workshop is being held with the participation of representatives from Jordan and the State of Palestine, following the development of a training manual on assessing the impacts of climate change on groundwater resources and the selection of pilot study areas to implement the assessment within member States on a request basis.
The workshop aims to:
- Present and explain the manual on assessing the impacts of climate change on groundwater resources, including the required data, and the existing opportunities and challenges;
- Guide trainees in applying the manual to the study area, draw conclusions about modelling results, and inform decision-making in this regard;
- Enable national teams to use the Arab Groundwater Knowledge Platform;
- Add the outputs of each study to the Arab Groundwater Knowledge Platform;
- Meet with each national team to discuss the necessary data to update the Arab hydrogeological map.
